HUG NEWS 47 1st JULY 20

Writer: davidjonesipad@me.comdavidjonesipad@me.com

I don't know about you but I don't like the trend of referring to the current situation as "the new normal". Our lives have always evolved, what was considered normal ten years ago is now completely different. The current situation is no different, we adapt and accommodate to to fit reality of the moment. that is what we have been doing and will continue to do. Those who adapt to change find ways to thrive and grow. those who pine for "the way things were" are missing the point and more importantly the opportunities. After all at what point do you freeze frame?

We are on a journey of discovering the possible. I find it invigorating and creative to have to do different things, I don't see change as a threat rather an opportunity. What about you?

hugukuleletv123 is a case in point, from no awareness of streaming to 3 months of continuous streaming shows necessity is the mother of invention.

Would we really be writing our own songs if things weren't different? In my wildest dreams when I floated the idea I did not anticipate such a positive outpouring of creativity. it was great to be able to share the songs with each other. I am sure you do not mind forgoing some playing so as to listen to your fellow players creativity. There are more songs to come and if you are fired up to give it a go by what you have heard then please do. We would look forward to them.

VERY IMPORTANT! I WOULD LIKE YOU TO EMAIL ME WITH ONE TRACK FROM OUR SONGLIST THAT YOU WOULD LIKE US TO PLAY ALONG TO ON FRIDAYS. A SONG FROM OUR WEBSITE SONGLIST ONLY PLEASE, THAT IS SONGS INDICATED IN YELLOW.

I will compile a songlist for us to use on Friday, please email me as soon as you can though.

HUG & LETTUCE QUIZ having played 70s hits over quite a number of weeks now I have pretty much exhausted songs that reasonably you are likely to know. So in the near future I will just use familiar songs from any era.

Thanks again for tuning in and participating. Yes its the taking part that matters!

This weekend sees the easing of restrictions and a chance to visit more outlets, particularly pubs and restaurants. Also, the chance for two households to meet indoors is a big step. Maybe there is a chance for two house holds to get together for a social stream on a Friday in the future?

It would be great to think that with pubs opening people would not revert to old behaviour but sadly I will not hold my breath given the behaviour over the past week.

Covid-19 Advice from Claud as always can be found on our website, our continued thanks to Claud.

IMPORTANT! New Departure, Normally I would switch the stream live from 10.20 ready for a 10.30 start.

From this Friday I am going to go live from 10.00am. This is so that I can start to gently introduce learning back into our events. So from 10.00am until 10.15am I am going to cover a particular aspect of playing. It will be about things like strumming, new chords, shortcuts. It will not be intense as it will be only for a few minutes. The expectation being that you will continue the learning in your own time and at your own pace.

From 10.20 I will revert to the normal pre stream start up for those who don't join in from 10.00am.

This Friday I will start off with a strumming pattern to learn. The details for this will be put on to our website in the members section so that you can be prepared. I will do this by close of the day today. I hope you will join in, as continuing to learn is what we are about. Nothing too difficult I promise!

See you Friday

Dave
